Managed platform EE team through development and launch of four generations of portable computers, involving over two dozen models ranging in complexity and size from 12” notebooks to a 20” luggable, plus docking devices and other associated peripherals.• Instituted numerous design process and metric improvements over the period to significantly enhance the engineering rigor, increase the product quality, and ensure on time delivery. Global Engineering Management responsibility for all shipping Dell notebook computers.• Performed technical and personnel management of Development Managers and EE’s responsible for all post launch activities. Coordinated efforts with other functional EM’s, both development and sustaining, and ODM’s, to ensure all notebook computer issues were addressed, and projects were executed, in a timely and thorough manner. Team efforts included Continuity of Supply, Quality Improvements, Feature Adds, and Cost Reductions. Factories never went lines down during this period, and platforms met all post launch savings targets.• Planned and executed transition of notebook sustaining engineering responsibility from Austin team to Shanghai team. This effort significantly enhanced manufacturing efficiency by putting competent support personnel in the same locale as the ODM’s and factories.

Spearheaded global manufacturing operations and development of ruggedized industrial computer systems. Managed $42M annual revenue P&L for supplying capital equipment and supplies (computer systems) to worldwide field organization. Second line manager responsible for all hardware design and development, purchasing, planning, warehousing, production, testing, quality, customer service and shipping functions.• Led team of electrical and mechanical engineers, mechanical designers, and electrical/electronic technicians accountable for design and development of custom rack mount PC’s and workstation class machines, associated notebook computers, all display, input and multimedia devices, computer interfaces, LAN/WAN/WLAN networking equipment, satellite communication systems, and rack mounting fixtures.• Functions included design, fabrication, component selection, compatibility and performance testing, reliability/environmental qualification, HALT testing, CE certification, field testing, commercialization, and manufacturing ramp.• Led manufacturing team responsible for purchase and worldwide distribution of custom and Dell corporate notebooks, desktops and servers. Managed software development for PC/Windows based data acquisition systems.• Initiated and managed feasibility phase of next generation acquisition software framework for Schlumberger Wireline. This project grew into a $100M+ global SW development program.• Directed development and commercialization of fit for purpose software system for data acquisition in oilfield perforating market; significantly improved job site efficiency.• Supervised system software development team responsible for 5MLOC Windows XP based field acquisition system that generated a significant portion of company revenue.
