I’ve always had a passion for medicine and improving people’s lives. My career in healthcare has given me a chance to nurture that as a clinician, as a researcher and as an executive, I’ve treated thousands of patients and in administrative roles focused on improving the quality of services, advocating for patients and serving others. ✔ At the outset of my career, I worked in an emergency room and as a medic in the Army National Guard. As I trained in psychiatric sub-specialties, I realized that I missed hands-on medicine and wanted to use my skills for community service, so I worked in disaster response and disaster medicine. Serving with several organizations, I’ve taken on leadership roles, provided medical care and psychological counseling and helped to mitigate damage from hurricanes, floods, a tornado, a mass-shooting and other disasters, both in the U.S. and abroad.✔ My background is multidimensional and my success in improving the quality of healthcare and services comes from that diversity. I bring together training and experience in behavioral health, disaster medicine/disaster management, public health and healthcare services to develop strategies to address complex and evolving issues.Highlights:✔ Served as the in-house expert on COVID-19 for Beacon Health Options, a managed care company, helping to guide in-network providers during the pandemic.✔ Executive Experience – served as Chief Medical Officer for a multi-billion dollar state agency. ✔ Operations Leadership – established the Memory and Movement Disorders Program within Allegheny Neuropsychiatric Institute and later turned it into the not-for-profit Alzheimer Center of Pittsburgh.✔ Improved the quality of care and standard of care in multiple roles.
