The academy I went for college taught me to always pay attention, but still being aware of your surroundings. Practicing self-discipline and maintaining focus, and awareness for development is part of the school's expected trait from their graduates. Currently, I'm now working as a Marine Engineer in NYK Line with STCW III/I certification serving for more than 30 Months of Sea Experience, and in the process of acquiring Senior Management License (STCW III/II). Working on international sailing vessels, demands determination especially for young seafarers. However, modern innovation in marine technology no longer accepts mechanical engineering as soul component of machinery systems, as major systems onboard now runs on computer software. My interest working with software was provoked thru my experience on sailing on a modern vessel(Year-Built 2022). Being exposed to new software, I say, data is key in providing efficient operation of machineries. As it helps in troubleshooting machinery problems, trends can also pick-up the early signs of wear and tear. With this innovation, studying data is as essential as preventive maintenance. Im now upskilling to add skills on software specifically on Data. During my tenure as Technical Officer in Manning Agency, I was working with our Manager in handling employee datasets. Handling datasets with no advanced-computer skills is challenging, however it reignited my drive in learning computer-related software since. This exposure lead me to further improve my personals skill and strive on learning new data visualization and analysis tools. As of now, I'm working my way up data analytic tools, like Excel, PowerBi, Tableau, and SQL and programming language like Python. Equipped with this, together with my experience in Marine Industry, I can help in analysis, visualization and further innovation on the Maritime Sector through data.
