• To lead, manage and develop a high-quality patient focused pharmaceutical service to Gastroenterology patients• IBD Clinics – managing mild-moderate and moderate to severe IBD patients on 5-ASA/Thiopurines/Biological therapy• To take active part in the multidisciplinary team meetings for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients prescribed biological and small molecule therapy to ensure appropriate prescribing (governance) through GIRFT principles• To ensure all gastroenterology patients prescribed high-cost drugs are commissioned appropriately; working with local commissioners to create high-cost drugs pathways. • To facilitate the efficient and cost-effective use of medicines within the speciality, provide a ward pharmacy service to Gastroenterology in-patients and provide a pro-active pharmacy service to Gastroenterology out-patients. • To provide clinical pharmacy services, department and ward based, in line with Trust procedures and national legislation. • Manage a team of 7 colleagues: currently a diploma tutor for postgraduate course and pre-registration trainee pharmacists• Actively involved with critiquing evidence-based medicine, guidelines writing and formulary applications for drugs within Specialist Medicine Directorate • Take part on weekly Gastroenterology biologics MDT meeting and have saved the Trust >£300k in 2017-18 financial year and >£350k in 2018-19 financial year through cost avoidance.• Therapeutic reviews; Policy, guideline, and Patient group directive (PGD) writing.• Proactively identifying cost-improvement initiatives through service improvement and drug switches for Trust and local CCGs • UKCPA Gastro & Hepatology Committee Co-Chair, providing strategic overview of the group to influence national strategies• Embedded within the COVID Treatment Group since the pandemic – reviewing/advising clinicians and NHS-E on the latest evidence for treatment
