I have always been fascinated by people - why we do the things we do, what makes us “tick,” why we believe the things we believe, etc. This led me to become a clinical social worker and therapist, and largely shapes the way I practice therapy. I approach therapy and assessment from a person-centered, trauma-informed orientation, based on really knowing and understanding the individual and their personal goals and hopes, and meeting them where they are at. Much of my therapy is based on the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model. In ACT, we aim to shift how we relate to our thoughts, emotions, and other experiences, rather than trying to change the actual experience. Additionally, we focus on identifying values and using those values to increase the client’s motivation, as well as to guide behavioral choices. It’s an incredibly powerful and beneficial treatment modality for many individuals. I specialize in the treatment of adults (age 18+) with eating disorders of all types, as well as in providing support through individual therapy to their loved ones. I am also passionate about providing therapy for people dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions (ie moving to a new city, marriage, divorce, entering or graduating from college, etc), and shame.In addition to providing therapy, I am also happy to provide consultation to other providers regarding the treatment of eating disorders or the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy model – please feel free to reach out to me!
