In 2019, Moore + Associates and the Center for Media and Social Impact at American University, in partnership with Comedy Central, launched the Yes, And… Laughter Lab. This ongoing collaboration is building a pipeline for the best comedy projects that address and discuss pressing social issues, while creating a new cross-sector practice for comedians, social justice folks, philanthropy, and industry players to work together to engage the public in urgent social challenges. In its first two years, comedians presented seventeen comedy projects – including scripted series, stand-up specials, digital PSAs, and sketch – selected from almost 1000 applications, each using humor to engage in social commentary and inspire social change. Laughter Lab comedians overwhelmingly come from communities often overlooked or typecast in Hollywood, including immigrants and refugees, women, people of color, and Muslims. Show less
