Miks has worked in various capacities in Europe, Africa, and Asia for the past 10 years. Together with leading European not-for-profits, Miks conceptualized and executed 30 international mobility projects for EU, Indian & African changemakers. In early 2014, Miks moved to India and closely worked with various social-change-oriented entrepreneurship institutes to gain insights into the current social change ecosystem in India. The support of the European-based NGOs and educational institutions, his experience in international project development and implementation across the EU, Africa, and India led Miks to co-found Make Room. Make Room India was launched as an independently organized Social Change Ecosystem creating and strengthening civil society’s cooperation to drive positive social change between the European Union and India. Since then, Make Room has grown to become a Global Social Change Ecosystem – a unique platform for impact-oriented intellectual, cultural and personal interactions between changemakers of Europe and the rest of the world. Make Room is the driving force behind the “Changemakers’ Room” Forum that has taken place in India and Nigeria. In 2018 Miks moved back to Latvia and now heads the Make Room representation in Latvia. In Latvia Make Room focuses mainly on fostering effective inclusion of migrants with fewer opportunities, generating employment and volunteering opportunities. He is an inspiring activist, 2016 Awardee of Women Economic Forum Iconic Leaders in Social Empowerment and in 2020 was selected by the Europe India Centre for Business and Industry as one of the members of the 2020 class of 40 under 40 Europe/India Leaders list.
