Transportation Security Officer
CurrentProvide security and protection for passengers, airport staff and aircraft staff by performing pat downs, searches of baggage and operating various screening equipment to identify potential threats or weapons. Lifting baggage or property weighing up to 50 pounds. Monitoring and controlling entry of the checkpoint and exit areas. Providing directions and responding to questions in a courteous and professional manner. Applying critical thinking skills while following standard operating procedures in a fast paced stressful environment to include angry passengers, alarms from machines, and crowd distractions in order to ensure the safety of all who enter the airside. Volunteered to work on different airsides, work overtime and respond to national emergencies such as hurricanes, flooding and disasters. Participates in Honor Guard ceremonies for veterans attending honor flights and ceremonies in regards to fellow officers.
