Mila Ferrer is a passionate diabetes advocate, who came to this field in 2006 when her younger son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Mila put to use her Marketing and Public Relations Bachelor’s Degree to raise awareness about diabetes among the Hispanic community. Fluent in Spanish and English, Mila works as Programs Manager at Beyond Type 1, where she utilizes Social Media channels to educate and raise awareness about diabetes. She has authored many publications expressing her concerns and realities of the Hispanic community touched by diabetes nationally and internationally. Mila has also collaborated on diabetes research projects, been awarded as a Top Influential Latina Blogger in the US and as a community champion for her educational and supportive efforts towards the Hispanic community. With continuous education and through partnerships, Mila continues her efforts to develop relevant and culturally sensitive content that will benefit Hispanics in the U.S.
