This involves running a variety of SAS programs to extract data, check it, transform it into a standardized usable format, and make it available for my team and the wider organization. I am involved in two main capacity-building activities. The first is focused on improving our internal understanding, organization, and utilization of the data that we have. The second is focused on empowering more provinces and territories to submit record level health workforce data. I am also involved in the conversion of our SAS programs to Python and testing of these programs as part of a company-wide initiative to transition to open source analytical software.Additionally, I perform analysis for our reporting products and complete external data requests on an adhoc basis. I teach swimming lessons mainly to children but also have some adult students. I provide customer service to students and their guardians and help make learning fun. H2O is a recreation management company that supplies lifeguards and recreation attendants to residential complexes including condos and apartments. Unlike most lifeguarding roles, lifeguards at H2O are also required to clean, balance pool chemicals, and perform pump maintenance. As a head lifeguard, I was responsible not only for ensuring a clean and safe swimming environment for our clients but I was also in charge of leading a small team of lifeguards at my pool.

As an aquatics supervisor I was in charge of 15 pools within the Ottawa Central Zone and required to be available on-call until my last pool closed (10pm). I participated in a 40h training week for all supervisors and also helped train all our lifeguards and recreation attendants. I was quickly thrown into the deep end as I started working the day after my interview. My first class was a full class of toddlers which was very challenging. My first year was filled with a lot of learning but I'm a quick learner so I was able to quickly improve and rise to new challenges.
