Miles Shephard – Head of GC Access InternationalMiles is responsible for overseeing all activities across the International division of GC Access, the Company’s dedicated MGA/ programme business unit. Based in London, Miles and the team work with worldwide clients to provide a range of transaction services and programme solutions, spanning carrier/ partner selection, (re)insurance design and placement, capital market access, bespoke analytics and modelling, contract expertise and premium/ claims servicing.- GC Access is focused exclusively on developing and executing fully optimised programme solutions that connect MGAs and a wide range of capital providers (direct insurers, fronts, reinsurers, ILS and alternative)L We are not location dependent or “siloed’ in our thinking - we aim to bring the full benefits of GC’s global relationships, product expertise and analytical capabilities to help our MGA clients grow and realise their enterprise value- GC Access brings together a multi-disciplined team of dedicated binder/ programme brokers, contract specialists, modellers and actuaries, and provides fully integrated services across all aspects of MGA development, including initial capacity support and contract development, growth/ M&A/ diversification strategy, integration of relevant insurtech solutions, structuring risk participation approaches (from captives through to Syndicate-in-a Box and transition to a “full stack” insurer) and long term term sale/ exit options;- GC Access employs a variety of program-specific proprietary tools, and accesses Guy Carpenter’s global reach to deliver best-in-class client solutions.Miles has worked (as both broker and underwriter) in the specialty insurance and reinsurance markets for more than 35 years. Most recently, he was Executive Chairman, Global MGA & Portfolio Solutions, at Aon Reinsurance Solutions, having previously been the Head and Founder of the LNA Binding Authority and Programmes Unit at Benfield. Prior to that, Miles held senior underwriting/ management roles at SVB/ Novae; now part of Axis), initially as Deputy Active Underwriter of Syndicate 1212 (with additional responsibility for NA/ International Casualty Treaty & NA Direct Liability), then as a Deputy Active Underwriter of Syndicate 2147. Miles started his career at Lloyd’s broker, RK Carvill & Co. Ltd., joining their graduate training scheme and progressing to Divisional Director and Director of their subsidiary, RSP Ltd. Miles has a BSc degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
