Lead Earth Observation Advisor
Currently working as part of the Earth Observation technical team developing the Living England project, part of the Natural Capital and Ecosystem Assessment (NCEA) programme. The project combines satellite imagery, in-field habitat records and various geospatial datasets (terrain, geology) to produce a national-scale habitat probability map. This is.
Research Associate
Role primarily involved undertaking environmental analysis and developing geospatial software tools as part of the Newcastle University Urban Observatory. Key projects included:--- Researching the impacts of the Covid-19 societal restrictions on air quality in Newcastle. This involved working collaboratively with data scientists and air quality experts to.
Phd Researcher
Research developed a series of tools able to estimate flood dynamics (extent, depth and volume) using Sentinel-1 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and geospatial datasets. The developed workflow utilises change detection and radiometric thresholding of SAR images to determine inundation extents, followed by data fusion with terrain models and surface.
Undergraduate Demonstrator
During my PhD studies, I had the opportunity to demonstrate undergraduate and Masters level modules within the School of Engineering. Topics demonstrated include remote sensing (using Erdas Imagine), photogrammetry, undergraduate and postgraduate GIS (using ArcMap) and introductory python. I have also assisted academic staff with the marking of first-year.
Senior Offshore Field Geophysicist
The main responsibility of the position was the real-time quality control of deep marine seismic data. Acting as the team leader for the onboard processing team, the role included:--- Being responsible for ensuring project objectives were achieved. Excellent organisational and time management skills were required to guarantee deadlines were met, often.
Senior Seismic Data Processing Geophysicist
Main responsibilities included the quality control, processing and preliminary hazard assessment of various types of shallow marine seismic data. Often worked as the sole processor on a project, taking responsibility for advising the client about data quality and processing. Regularly communicated with clients, project managers and other internal.
