Miles Baker is a recent journalism strategic communications graduate from Ohio University. He specializes in marketing and visual communications and is passionate about his future in PR.At the age of 10, a nervous and shy Miles, who rarely spoke to new people, was taught by his parents how to order pizza. A simple phone call for a couple of pepperoni pizzas changed his view on talking. All it took was some pizza, and he could chat with anyone.Miles has been in customer service since 15, working jobs ranging from a sales booth in a zoo to a server at a hotel. Miles started from the lower levels of catering staff and a university publication to become a leader in both positions. With years of catering and being a waiter, he helped save a melting wedding cake an hour before the wedding or helped a florist create centerpieces. In his magazines on campus, he helped create a new magazine layout the night before print or wrote a needed article with an hour turnaround time.He worked with several student organizations at Ohio University, including; Ohio University communications firm 1804, Student Alumni Board, and Ohio University's first communications and business fraternity, Kappa Alpha Zeta. For his 3rd year, he had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in Wales at Swansea University and has discovered his love for travel. He has interned as a Marketing and Press Manager for 2Rogues Media. After graduation he tackled his second internship with Innovation Economy Partners as a Digital Communications Intern. After one summer Miles assumed a full time position as Outreach and Communications coordinator for Innovation Economy Partners, where he found his passion for community development and the power of story telling through an economic lens. Miles is excited to take a new opportunity and continue his storytelling career as The Ohio State Universities newest Communications and Outreach Program Manager for the Department of Agricultural, Environmental and Development Economics. Miles hopes to connect people and give back in any way he can, even if it's just by telling them goofy stories of a boy ordering pizza for the first time.
