I am a product engineering leader with a broad background in technology, including product development, infrastructure, observability, architecture, and more than a decade of leadership in the online technology space. With an established understanding of start-up, SMB, B2B, SaaS, federal government and enterprise business running highly available web applications, I'm experienced and capable in strategic leadership and experienced as a company executive. I operate tightly with my teams and the technology and products we build together. I maintain a strong conviction that hiring the best people will yield amazing results. In most teams, there should be an embedded teaching-learning culture supported by juniors up to senior staff.The last decade has seen unprecedented growth and adoption of lean-agile systems thinking, the fundamentals of which underpin much of my own approaches to leadership. Helping teams understand and evolve their own systems of work while maintaining highly engaged teams was a focus for many years. As guilds were being rolled out at REA-Group in Melbourne, I established and led the Agile practice, and developing teams to improve on how they work and produce value for customers is still an area from which I derive enjoyment.With a keen passion for Cloud, Security, and keeping systems healthy, I'm most at home providing a people-oriented, technical voice at the leadership table, while staying close to the technology itself. This setting has also positioned me to help organisations set and meet technology budgets, and be able to identify and reduce costs in cloud computing and supplier contracts. I've also led information security practices and developed supporting company policies and procedures for compliance.My future involves working with humble, direct folks keen on developing a high level of trust to enable efficient, direct communication and move quickly towards a shared vision. I stay "on the tools" to facilitate more meaningful strategy, and anticipate that I'll stay deeply rooted in technology leadership roles for many years to come.
