Due to the hearts inability to regenerate, severe tissue remodeling and scar tissue formation occur. In order to alleviate this problem several approaches have been considered including the development of a cardiac patch that can beat synchronously or minimally invasive injectable hydrogels that promote local angiogenesis and cardiomyocyte survival. My project focuses on developing novel shape-memory scaffolds that allow functional tissues to be delivered in vivo in a minimally invasive manner. Show less
