My name is Miles, I'm a multi-disciplined digital designer based in Perth. Currently I'm driving user-centric design solutions for Murdoch University. I'm a believer in that good design needs to transcend aesthetics; it should be a deliberate vision that drives and creates positive value for real people. Focus on the users and all else will follow.As a Designer, I specialise in creative and strategic thinking that helps teams figure out what to do and how to do it – whether that's inventing a new digital proposition or creating an experience to reinvent an existing one. I'm driven by solving hard problems in complex places and I come alive when collaborating with others. For the past several years, I've worked with world renown, higher education, not-for-profits, and governmental bodies to reimagine and deliver their next generation of digital services.‍My journey into design was sparked by a deep fascination with how visual elements can communicate complex ideas and evoke emotions. Growing up, I was always drawn to art and technology, spending countless hours drawing, experimenting with different mediums, and exploring early design software. This blend of creativity and technical curiosity naturally led me to the field of design.‍When I moved to Perth, Australia, I found myself working within Tech and IT companies, but positioned towards people and culture. Spending time in this perspective, I realised the profound impact technology and good design can have on people’s lives. I remember working on a project that involved rethinking a website for a climate change-centred education company. Seeing how a well-thought-out design could help make important information more accessible and improve user experience was incredibly rewarding. It was then that I understood design’s potential to drive positive change.‍Moreover, the ever-evolving nature of design keeps me inspired. The constant advancements in technology and shifts in cultural trends and present endless opportunities for learning and innovation. This dynamic environment fuels my passion and motivates me to stay at the forefront of the industry, continuously honing my skills and exploring new creative avenues.‍Ultimately, it’s the combination of creativity, problem-solving, and the ability to make a tangible difference that inspired me to become a designer. Every project is a new challenge and an opportunity to create something impactful, which is what I love most about this field.
