Hi,My name is Miles Boone.I'm an artist, technician and educator from Charlotte, North Carolina. I'm currently based in Syracuse, NY and enrolled in enrolled in the Audio Arts M.A program housed in Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. My areas of focus are studio engineering, music production, post-production, and sound for picture. During the Fall 2023 Semester I interned at WXHC (101.5 FM "X101"), a radio station in Homer, NY where I worked as a mixing engineer, producer and voice talent. I voiced over a dozen commercials and produced several dozen more commercials and interviews for featured radio shows. My passions are for music and digital journalism so my ultimate goal immediately after graduation (Spring 2024) is to begin working as a mixing engineer for radio, podcasts, or commercial music studios.I moved to Syracuse from New Orleans, Louisiana where I worked as an educator and an audio engineer for live performances. I moved to Louisiana almost immediately after completing my B.F.A in Jazz & Contemporary Music at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. This was my first chance to try to make it on my own after college. I learned a lot about community building through my role at Young Audience of Louisiana as Piano Teacher and other roles as an educator. I also also grew my appreciation for ones own authenticity, general respect and the ability to be kind through experiences working with artists through RZI Lighting and various freelance opportunities. New Orleans came on my radar through my undergraduate studies actually. In my final semester at UNCA, I organized a research study on the history of jazz and its origin in New Orleans. I flew to New Orleans twice and to conduct archival research on at the Amistad Research Center and the Hogan Jazz Archives at Tulane University. On that first in 2020 trip just before Mardi Gras and the beginning of the pandemic, I knew I would live in New Orleans - I had never been in a place with such a richness in culture and appreciation for artists, musicians, scholars and craftspeople. My goals for the next four years after graduation:- Secure a position with a company that shares my value of importance on community building and community equity that allows me the opportunity to create work with integrity.- Continue to build Content Creation & Media Startup called Peach Thxory that is a joint venture between myself and two other members of my master's cohort.- Restablish myself as a performer and session guitarist by releasing music on a consistent cycle.Lock
