I am a passionate advocate for chemical biology, and its transformative ability to accelerate basic and translational discoveries on the chemistry-biology-medicine continuum. In my current role I have built a highly collaborative, impactful, well-funded and visible chemical biology program. We are more than 100 scientists strong, and we share passion for cancer research and drug discovery. My views of biomedical research, science careers, and the role for science and scientists in society has been shaped over two decades. As the Editor of two leading journals in structural and chemical biology, I had a privilege to handle more than 10,000 papers, publish more than 2,500 articles, and interact with thousands of scientists across the globe. These interactions had a profound impact on my thinking and approach to supporting science. My core strengths include: - excellent knowledge of diverse fields of chemistry and biology- exceptional communication skills, including public speaking and science communication- strategic thinking, diplomacy, skillful conflict resolution and tact- ability to approach complex situations and develop workable solutions- people coaching, managing, developing and mentoringI consult and coach in all these areas, and I am open to being contacted. My passions include promoting and advocating for structural and chemical biology, supporting women in science and career development for early career researchers, and experimenting with new ways to talk about and evaluate scientific achievements.Final word: I am a prolific writer and you can find my articles on the Cell Press blogging platform Crosstalk: http://crosstalk.cell.com/blog/author/milka-kostic; LinkedIn; and Eat the Vegan Rainbow (for plant-based recipe development stories): https://eattheveganrainbow.wordpress.com/.
