• Created a new revenue-generating feature by using a C# ingestion service to enrich Kafka messages with driver, vehicle, and GPS data. This feature sends the messages to an auto-scaling SQS queue, which triggers an AWS Lambda function, resulting in direct data delivery to customer APIs, streamlining data access and eliminating customer reliance on Lytx APIs.• Executed performance testing and implemented rendering optimizations in the Angular UI to improve load times of the live map feature by 93%, resulting in a smoother user experience and increased customer satisfaction.• Successfully migrated from an on-premises SQL database and Redis cluster to a high-performing cloud solution that utilizes a dockerized C# service to process 200 million data points daily and dependent web applications had API latency reduced by 61%.• Designed a system to facilitate a cloud migration of read-heavy Geofence functionality that leveraged the Document Versioning Pattern to architect a MongoDB schema that stored historical data for a year and improved read times by 45%• Worked collaboratively with product and engineering architecture teams across the software development life cycle to design and plan new features, address production issues, and present accomplishments and implementations to stakeholders.• Exemplified exceptional teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in cross- functional collaboration with various stakeholders and engineering teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and scalable solutions within project deadlines.
Software Engineer
• Facilitated code review with junior engineers to ensure adherence to engineering best practices, and led team whiteboarding and code walk-through sessions to foster technical and professional development through best practice adherence and project execution strategies.• Delivered one-on-one mentoring on full-stack development principles, including DOM manipulation, state management, authorization with JWT and bcrypt, client-server architecture, REST API work, and SDLC patterns including MVC, Flux, and TDD• Led instructional workshops on software development fundamentals such as asynchronous JavaScript, data structures, React, Redux, Node, Express, SQL & NoSQL databases, AWS, and CI/CD to efficiently onboard over 400+ developers a year.• Introduced Typescript to junior engineers according to industry trends as a means of catching type related errors during compile time as well as providing type safety to make code refactoring and maintenance more efficient and safe in a team environment.• Proctored technical interviews to assess a prospective engineer’s JavaScript proficiency and knowledge, technical communication, analytical problem solving, debugging abilities, engineering empathy, and cultural fit ensuring that candidates have the necessary skills to be an effective engineer.

- Utilized Electron to build a Svelte IDE desktop application that provides Svelte developers with all the tools essential to frontend development including a reactive component tree to display file dependencies, state, and props visualizer for each component within a project, a fully-functioning terminal environment by leveraging XTerm, a code editor with bracket-pair matching and syntax highlighting utilizing CodeMirror, and a browser window to display client views of the loaded project from within SvelteStorm.- Implemented electron-forge as its transpilation of code under the hood allowed for minimal time spent configuring a distributable that allowed users to download an executable that is compatible across Linux, Windows, and Mac machines- Implemented functionality that searches a user-defined directory for Svelte components, builds and parses an Abstract Syntax Tree, finds and tracks dependencies, state, and props from that AST, then passes the information to D3 to display within a State Management window, allowing the user to easily keep track of and manage their application’s state and where it is declared and used across all of their files.- Worked within an Agile Scrum workflow to facilitate sprints and utilize Asana to assign tickets for development tasks and meet deadlines- Optimized application by updating dev dependencies to recoup technical debt which lead to dramatically increased load times for the user; both in starting the application initially as well as uploading and opening user-provided files once the application was open. - Incorporated a content security policy (CSP) in Electron as a means to increase the overall security of the application.- Product developed under tech accelerator OSLabs (opensourcelabs.io)
Sweat Check-In
- React components were used to build a single-page application in which a user would use a visualized calendar in order to log in and their states and past entries were stored and displayed back to them via modals that are accessible as cells within the calendar.- bcrypt was used in order to hash and verify passwords provided by a user, with the password hashes being stored in a NoSQL database, which was also used to define User Sessions and keep track of cookies and creation dates for the authentication process. - Webpack was responsible for bundling and transpiling the application for the browser. The HttpWebpackPlugin made creating an HTML file for the application nearly automatic, and the babel-loader transpiled the JSX code from the React components. Utilizing the webpack-dev-server made tracking changes made in code and how the changes would render in the client much quicker, thus speeding the development process up exponentially.
Settracker: Progressive Overload Journal
- React-based application that utilized multiple containers that held state and data were used, and React’s components and JSX syntax were very effective in visualizing the application and making the code human-readable. - In order to handle calls to different endpoints and perform SQL queries, Express ensured CRUD functionality within the application by providing a single point in which the React frontend and Node/SQL backend could communicate, while Express’ middleware pattern allowed for more maintainable code since all of the different pieces of functionality are contained within their own files and follow a more coherent flow.- Constructed a remote PSQL database as a means to store user entries so that a user may view them at any point and incorporated Node-postgres in tandem with the remote PSQL database optimized development workflow by allowing queries to the database to be made within Node.js/Express function calls.- Implemented Redux to manage state and facilitate calls to the backend server that was making PSQL queries and in order to organize many different actions that were making changes to various aspects of state across multiple React components. The single source of truth made it much easier to connect the front and back ends through the Action Creator and Dispatchers. Once Redux was entirely implemented, creating new features was much more streamlined and my workflow speed increased significantly.
Hypeq: Multimedia Organizer
- HypeQ utilizes React Router and React Hooks to deliver a logged-in user to view their personal list of curated multimedia content that they wish to consume in the near future. React Router streamlined connecting buttons on our main page to modals or other pages on the server, creating a more seamless experience for the user.- Used a proxy server utilizing Webpack in order to connect the frontend application being served on a single server to the backend server to facilitate communication between the two servers. - bcrypt, PSQL, and express were utilized to hash user passwords, store user passwords, and handle user input in order to authenticate and register users so that the client view would display user-specific information and configurations.
