As a Senior Marketing Consultant with Baker Marketing I worked across a variety of industry sectors providing mentoring, strategic marketing planning and operational marketing support to SME's and Government departments. With a particular emphasis on digital strategy and implementation this role provided me with the opportunity to hone my skills to a high level to assist clients to achieve outstanding results on often limited budgets.

In my role with the City of Salisbury I was responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive, award winning strategic marketing program that supported both regional and organisational goals. I was head of a team that had responsibility for media liaison, community engagement, market research, events, web and social media, sponsorship, publications, signage and traditional advertising and promotion activities for the whole of Council. During my 4 1/2 years with the Council I built upon a strong foundation that sees the City of Salisbury recognised as a sector leader, particularly in its application of branding principles, use of web and social media and its innovative approach towards promotion.

As a member of the executive management team I helped set the strategic and policy direction for Barkuma as well as leading the marketing and fundraising activities of the organisation. I completed a brand review in 2007 and developed and implemented a marketing and fundraising strategy which resulted in increased media coverage and a significant growth in income from grants and corporate sponsorship.

Reporting to the CEO I played a key role in the development of organisational and marketing strategy in this multifaceted organisation. I was accountable for all aspects of Bedford’s marketing and fundraising programs and managed a team of approximately 30 people, including an in-house telesales department. During my tenure I resolved strategic issues in relation to the establishment of the Bedford Foundation Board, undertook a re-branding program, trebled media coverage and achieved the best results on all financial and donor measures in a 5 year measurement period. I turned around the flagging lotteries program, generated an additional $100k sponsorship income, and successfully staged the annual awards function for 1200 people offsite for the first time.

With overall responsibility for marketing, R&D and own-brand retail operations, the primary objective of this role was to return Angas Park to profit through product range optimisation including rationalisation, reformulation and new product development. I also developed and implemented a marketing communications program with an emphasis on point-of-sale activity and product trial. The position carried considerable people management responsibilities and accountability for a $1.5m+ marketing budget.

Working with a significant marketing budget ($5m+) and a staff of 4 direct reports, my key function was the development and implementation of research based, strategic marketing plans for Tenneco’s aftermarket brands, Monroe Shock Absorbers and Walker Exhaust Systems, in the Australian and New Zealand markets. This included driving the product development program and managing an award winning multi-media trade and consumer marketing communications program.
