Senior Member Of Technical StaffVmware Jan 2022 - PresentPalo Alto, Ca, UsI am a developer and Scrum Master for Project Radium, a research project with the goal of providing performant, shared access to cloud-based ML accelerators via user-level interposition, process migration, and containerization. I worked with a small team to build and evaluate a working proof of concept implementation in Rust. The PoC shows that Radium introduces low overhead for select classes of ML applications. Features I designed and implemented include heuristic prefetching, execution migration, and system call remoting.

Member Of Technical StaffVmware Jan 2020 - Jan 2022Palo Alto, Ca, UsI was a developer for Bitfusion, a product that provides the illusion of virtual GPU slices for CUDA applications. I worked collaboratively with my coworkers to maintain and extend the product. My major contributions included a rewrite of the RPC module of the system to use a RAII design pattern that eliminated unnecessary copies for message passing through software layers. I maintained and extended our API interposition library, code generation tool, and applied the code generation concept to our test framework and CI system, expanding the test coverage. I advocated for software engineering best practices and led the group to adopt Scrum, serving as the Scrum Master for the three distributed engineering teams and encouraging a culture of collaboration and transparency.

My internship goal was to reduce the number of client requests to the backend service. I accomplished this by changing the polling implementation to a websocket notification system. This approach reduced unnecessary request processing on the backend, decreased network traffic, and made the frontend more responsive.
