Working within the Securities Services Operations division of the bank, the objective of this role was to perform daily and periodic transaction reconciliation and product accounting for offshore and local markets products with an emphasis on compliance with Financial Control Policy and periodic reporting to SCB Kenya Finance Division. I also handled international and local/domestic correspondences whilst monitoring financial press and market/government publications for market information.

Responsible for systems administration (security of data and maintenance of equipment and machines). Led the reconciliation of the suspense accounts and holdings. Accountable for the development and implementation of new securities products/services, general operations in custody trades processing and maintaining control of stationery and reconciliation and swift transfer messages and queries. Also, conduct accurate reconciliation of foreign currency position accounts to provide accurate holding positions for Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and South Africa to avoid breach on country regulators.

This was an entry level role into Barclays bank where I was responsible for processing of international payments, reconciliation and maintenance of foreign currencies accounts (Nostro) and handling of local and international queries and correspondences. I also got an opportunity to act as a Team leader for the Nostro reconciliation Team.
