Throughout my time at Sainsburys, I was able to grasp the full importance of collaborative teamwork, excellent communication and the professionalism that comes alongside working for a large, reputable brand. Here, I delivered good customer service and was able to adapt to different situations. Within the store, I was focused in the Bakery; this allowed me to develop food handling and hygiene qualifications as well as skills in the preparation, baking and packaging of bread and baked goods. In addition, I was able to work well under pressure and meet time-based deadlines and quotas daily.

During this placement, I aided in research development into Type 2 Diabetes alongside PHD students and consultants. Here, I learnt valuable laboratory practice, team work and the importance of scientific innovation. At the end of this period, I was able to produce a small research report which was eligible for a CREST award.
