I devoted myself to sharing more than 35 years of business experience as a creative professional with my students through my Advanced Graphic Design and Portfolio classes. I believe in nurturing, mentoring, inspiring, leading by example and bringing out the latent creative capabilities in every individual. A significant number of well-placed students in a variety of creative pursuits throughout the country is my reward.

Collaborated in the development of an award-winning, comprehensive branding initiative for the community college. Personally responsible for leading the conceptual direction and creating an innovative, new approach to branding i.e. the development and implementation of a ThoughtMark™ as an evocative, visual representation of the school's brand promise (.edyou™).

Taught an innovative team of talented young designers how to build engaging portfolios. Several now work for Maestro in Kalamazoo, MI.

I created and ran an independent, full-service marketing, design and branding firm from 1996 - 2010. This business has subsequently evolved into an ideation service provider (thanks to Thomas Friedman/“The World is Flat”) and a think tank now named MillsIdeas. Most recently I've also co-created a collaborative umbrella organization to work hand in glove with MillsIdeas, called IdeaFish. My creative partner in this venture is Thomas Hamaan, Owner of ZGH Design.
