I wanted to be a filmmaker, or so I thought. It didn't take long for me to realize that what I was really interested in was why our brains love story. So I delved into the science of narrative processes and structures, starting with myths, fairy tales, and religion. That journey took me into linguistics, the study of learning and comprehension as well as the developmental stages of the brain. All the while I kept my passion for the arts, finding ways to incorporate theater, film, and other media into my work. Much of my career has been in education, teacher training, and curriculum development in Asia, North America, and Europe. I've also applied my work effectively in enterprise and project development, organizational structure, branding, and management. Academically, I spent the first half of my career exploring how we construct reality, learn about it, and therefore develop our identity within it. Fascinated by how and who we are, I knew that this process was the key to effective education and lifelong learning. Now, I work at the intersection of cognitive science, creative expression, and emerging technologies, crafting innovative solutions to enhance the quality of life for all. My mission is to tell stories, stories that inspire awareness and growth and create authentic community. I achieve this by optimizing the way we navigate life, first by simplifying the goal, clarifying the map, and finally constantly observing and enhancing the processes/steps we take along the journey.To that end, I have been crafting brain-based processes that empower individuals to distill their effort, resources, and energy into a purposeful lifestyle. My thesis is that a simple, actionable, and cognitively proven self-narrative can significantly transform our lives for the better.I wanted to be a filmmaker, instead I ended up being a storyteller, seeking to inspire the hearts and minds of all I'm honored to work with.
