This two-day cyber security incident response exercise introduced me to a variety of important skills and ideas in the cyber security realm. Specifically, I learned how to:- Use Security Onion, Arkime and Ghidra to analyze web traffic and server state to deduce how the attacker got into the system.- Look for signs and traces of an intrusion through methods including packet inspection and log management to pinpoint the system's weakness.- Deliver an incident report and oral presentation to the victim company's stakeholders, summarizing what was lost in the cyber attack and advising next steps.
