Cartesi is a Layer-2 blockchain platform for the development and deployment of scalable decentralized applications (DApps). The project enables complex and intensive computations to run in a Linux environment, outside the blockchain, without compromising on decentralization. As it brings mainstream scalability and convenience to DApp developers and users, Cartesi aims to help power a new generation of more powerful, cost-effective and easier to build decentralized applications.

Development of projects in the fields of geoprocessing and the environment, logistics and the internet of things (IoT). Activities included cooperation with open-source software communities, design and implementation of stream-processing pipelines to track large vehicle fleets, and full-stack implementation of IoT automation solutions in close cooperation with industry leaders

Development of a system for the analysis of mobile network performance and comparison across carriers on a global scale. Activities included implementation of processing pipelines for large IoT datasets and advanced visualization of spatio-temporal information

Elaboration, supervision and participation in several research projects related to large scale monitoring of land use based on remote sensing, modeling of land use dynamics and their impacts to sustainability issues

Modeling and development of a near real-time system for monitoring vehicle fleets based on GPS (Java, C/C++, Lua, PostgreSQL, Hibernate), development and maintenance of the TerraLib Development Kit geoprocessing library (Java, C/C++, several DBMS’s)

Research student within Project Clime, developing work on satellite image processing for land use / land cover assessments. Activities included developing and implementing pattern classification algorithms for processing temporal series of raster satellite imagery, as well as basic I/O methods for reading and writing data in specific formats (C/C++).
