I was born and educated in KZN and matriculated from Maritzburg College in 1985. I started working on the goldmines of the west rand in HR. I returned to Durban and Smith and Nephew as HR officer for 9 years. I achieved a BComm HR through UNISA in 2002 and joined Wimpy as Franchise Business Consultant in Cape Town until 2004. I moved back to Durban to join Debonairs Pizza and Steers in the same capacity for a further 4 years. After a brief stint in my own medical industry business I returned to fast food as a Business Consultant for Yum! Restaurants International (KFC Brand), based in Durban. I consulted to franchise groups with businesses in KZN, Namibia, Swaziland and Mozambique for 3 years. I was then approached to head the operation of a KFC franchise of 27 outlets (Sales of R200M p.a, employing +- 600) , based in Cape Town with branches in Johannesburg, Capetown and Southern Cape for two years, before being drawn back to KZN. I was subsequently appointed as caretaker Principle Operator of another KFC Franchise (7 restaurants turning over R60M p.a. and employing 140 staff) until the business was sold in January of 2012.Subsequently, I co-established a new KFC Franchise called Silver Lake Trading, grew to seven restaurants in 30 months, through project managing the building of new units and acquisitions, creating support divisions of HR, Marketing, finance and IT. Overall responsibility for P&L of each unit with a combined turnover of R80M p.a., employing 155 staff. A major focus was optimal cost management at every unit and leverage new opportunities to drive transaction and ticket growth. Development of local marketing strategy, plan and execution for each of the 7 Units to meet each unit's needs.In 2016, I joined Best Bread in the role of NBDM, bought out of liquidation by Jacobs Capital to turn it into a profitable enterprise again. This business currently turns over more than R50 million per annum and is profitable. I was kept on in the role of CSO, when it was sold in 2018. In 2019 I was appointed as Sales & Strategic Projects Consultant to Sunshine Bakeries, to provide sales expertise to the business Sales function to support the growth strategy and customer profile mix required by the business. Motivate the sales team to achieve this goal, put in place tools and controls to develop a better process of identifying and targeting of new customers. With the on-set of COVID, this project was terminated due to the uncertainty of future expansion.
