Responsible for managing project platforms for Process Validations work within Hershey R&D. Lead efforts which will include a focus on product and process scale-up validations for Core Confectionery, Strategic Growth Platforms, and Integrating Brands, with a strong focus on Integrating Brands, to grow our Global Confectionery and Snacks businesses. Lead a team composed of approximately 2-5 professional-level staff and additional temporary contractors and consultants as needed for various projects. Role scope will also include individual leadership of 1-3 critical projects within the Process Validations portfolio. Determine the technical strategies for key validation focus areas and work closely with business partners in Product Development, Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality to ensure the programs meet the Company’s business needs. Manage relationships internally and externally with business partners, suppliers, research institutes, universities, and other service providers to deliver required validation results. Assure timelines are met and provide ongoing progress reports to senior management. Set priorities for the program and allocate resources for projects. Work with direct reports to determine goals and timetables for projects, and ensure diligence in the development, scale-up, and production of products in our snacking portfolio. Provide technical expertise leveraging process development principles and validation methodologies. Resolve resource allocation and timing issues to ensure that business objectives are achieved or exceeded.

As Staff Engineer I use process engineering and food science principles to lead process development research projects and programs. One key focus area of current research will be leadership of chocolate process development research related to better for you initiatives and sugar reduction, from benchtop to pilot scale, and commercialization supporting both ingredient development and finished product. This includes identifying key unit operations and critical processing parameters. Secondary responsibility would involve equipment specifications, equipment installation, and process commissioning support for capital projects.
