InternAlt Engineering Feb 2012 - Mar 2012Seychelles- Became familiar with workshop tools and the principles behind the main components of engines and drive trains.Notable work: Assessed the wear in an airport fire truck engine to determine if it needed replacing. I found that the piston bore diameter had increased beyond the range specified in the engine manual and therefore the engine either needed replacing or re-boring to accommodate a larger piston size. Re-boring was not an option due to the relative closeness of the piston bores; and also since this engine was part of a safety-critical machine I decided to replace the engine completely.
