My role as a tutor here is to either focus on beginner up tuition, taking people from absolute beginner to advanced levels, and also focusing on graded material if the student so wishes to go down that route. While working for the County Music Service I taught guitar in a variety of schools. I was responsible for planning and delivering guitar teaching sessions both to individual pupils and to groups. This role required me to demonstrate a high level of communication skills, in order to ensure that children were taught effectively and that their parents were.

I taught 4 evenings a week, performing all of the guitar and bass tuition at The Musical Box. Age ranges taught were from 5 – 70 years old. I was responsible for all teaching strategy planning and implementation.

I was employed by the Local Authority to teach 11-16 year olds how to form successful bands. I ran the course for three years and it was very successful in terms of attendance and popularity with pupils. Every week I devised an action plan of aims for that week so that our teaching remained focused. The end results of the course were shown in a concert.
