A five-time X Games medalist & former professional skateboarder with a decades-long commitment to creating lasting solutions & equity in women’s sports, Mimi Knoop has repeatedly built breakthrough opportunities that have forever changed the trajectory of women's skateboarding. Mimi helped build Team USA’s inaugural Olympic skateboarding program which debuted at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. As both the High Performance Director & appointed “Team Leader” representing the USA Skateboarding (USAS) delegation in Tokyo, Knoop’s leadership resulted in bringing home two hard-won medals for Team USA at skateboarding’s first-ever Olympic Games. Prior to the Olympics, Knoop founded the Women's Skateboarding Alliance (WSA), an elite global management & consulting agency. WSA has acted as the premiere sport organizer for globally televised women’s skateboarding events like ESPN’s X Games, NBC’s Dew Tour and SLS (among others) since 2015. Through WSA, Knoop co-founded “The Skate Exchange”, an event in 2018 in Japan that brought together top women skateboarders from around the world with the intention of creating community & public interest prior to skateboarding’s debut in the Olympic Games. The Skate Exchange is history’s first ever for-women-by-women skate excursion unrelated to contests and was the biggest women's skateboarding event ever held in Asia to date.Knoop co-founded the Action Sports Alliance, (“the Alliance”) in 2005, being the first to bring together and give voice to professional women skateboarders. In 2008, the Alliance caused a watershed moment heard around the world by securing prize purse equality for men & women at all X Games events (all sports, both Summer & Winter).Outside the contest world, Knoop is a creative, an entrepreneur and a trusted advocate. She serves on the board of directors for Tony Hawk’s The Skatepark Project (TSP) and on the advisory board for Skateistan. Knoop co-created a legendary skateboard brand called, “hoopla skateboards”, which provided the first onramp for women skaters to earn income & to launch their careers as professional skateboarders. Mimi is a pioneer in social media influence by curating content and novel opportunities for skateboarders by consulting with global brands including Sony, Levis, Cadillac, Visa, Nike, HBO, NBC, and ESPN. Knoop currently resides in Southern California.
