I served as the Illinois Executive Director of Stand for Children, a non-partisan, non-profit advocacy organization focused on ensuring all students receive a high quality, relevant education.Under my leadership, the Illinois office of Stand progressed from a start-up to a robust statewide organization supported by a membership base focused on positive activism. We championed major policy changes and published several reports which influenced legislation. We innovated and scaled a suite of programs focused on community and family engagement, partnering with parents and schools in underserved neighborhoods of Chicago. Through Stand for Children IL PAC, we helped elect diverse and solutions-oriented state legislators.I served on Governor Pritzker’s educational success transition committee. I was one of 12 AAPIs honored by Mayor Lightfoot for our contributions to Chicago. I am a member of the Illinois Advisory Committee of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition.I am a former partner of Kirkland & Ellis, where I focused on strategic alliances. I then moved to Tribune Company and led legal affairs for Tribune Education. I have served on the boards of non-profits, held leadership roles in campaigns, and worked closely with school boards.Key Achievements• COVID-19 Response: Managed adaptation of community and family engagement programs to virtual environments. Organized sewing and sending of 6,300 cloth face masks direct to families on Chicago’s South Side.
