Dr. Scollo serves as chief scientific officer at Originy, with a specific focus on molecular pharmacology and medicinal plant extraction. He has experience in the cultivation of human and microalgal cells for research and industrial applications; he is currently involved in the breeding, harvesting, and extraction of microalgae and cyanobacteria on an industrial scale, with a biorefinery approach geared toward the production of ingredients and finished products for the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, cosmetic, and agronomic sectors. During his academic career and in various positions in cosmetic and agricultural companies, he has furthered his research activities on the phytocomplex of Cannabis spp. consisting mainly of cannabinoids and terpenoids, plant biology and molecular pharmacology in both preclinical and clinical studies, agronomic methods and extraction systems (ultrasound-assisted extraction and steam distillation). These characteristics have also been used in the cultivation and extraction of medicinal plants, using regenerative organic farming methods, and of microalgae.
