I have been leading the structural design element of the project, which has required a careful assessment of the existing structures and collaboration with the design team.Malvern Theatre: Responsible for the Stage 2-4 design of a new engineered timber extension housing a studio theatre, as well as designing alterations to the existing auditorium to improve overall theatre capacity. I provided early-stage structural options, influencing the design team’s decision-making through the comparison of embodied carbon for each option.Docking Station, Chatham: Retrofitting an existing Grade II listed masonry building and designing a new engineered timber building for digital production studios. Led the structural design for both aspects, alongside collaborating with the design team. Carried out the drainage design and sized attenuation tanks.

Worked on several projects involving steel design and created structural models in Autodesk Robot and Tekla Structural Designer. Carried out structural appraisals and condition surveys of historic buildings and also worked on timber connection designs on several projects.Moreover, took on an assistant project manager role, which entailed managing the budget, setting deadlines for the team and working with the client and contractor.Was involved with programme management on Crossrail.

I did a very exciting and interesting five-week placement in the building structures team of Arup's Leeds office. It gave great insight to how engineering office works and many new skills. I was able to work on projects such as the Londoner Hotel on Leicester Square, Hamina LNG tank, University of Hull engineering building and Birmingham Symphony Hall remodeling. Also, learned to use programs such as GSA, Compos, Tekla Tedds and IDEA StatiCa.

Through the Engineering Outreach programme I helped to deliver fun and educational workshops to mostly secondary school children. It gave me a valuable opportunity to introduce my field of study to younger students and try to grow their interest in engineering and help them appreciate technical and mathematical subjects more. It was also my responsibility to represent University of Leeds and introduce it to children.
