• Led technology development and technical service lab projects for a variety of conventional and unconventional reservoirs, throughout 9+ years of working in the IOR/EOR lab and the Unconventional Reservoirs Lab.• Initiated a "Connecting Stimulation to Recovery" lab program for unconventional EOR. o Evaluated and recommended well stimulation chemicals for business units to improve oil recovery in unconventional reservoirs.o Good results were achieved in actual field trials.o Results presented at COP Unconventional Symposium in 2014. • Characterized unconventional rocks through in-house developed core analysis workflow.• Collaborated with the business unit to investigate the water production problem in the Delaware Basin.• Led a joint R&D program with a university to develop novel nano- to micro- sized polymer products for in-depth conformance control. o 12 patents filed and 3 granted by the end of 2016. o Products being assessed for commercialization.• Served as a subject matter expert in water-soluble polymer applications for ConocoPhillips. o Advised business units on the use of polymers and gels. o Designed and conducted performance tests on polymer and gel products for oil field applications. Results were used to guide product selection and interpret field test results.o Served as a company representative for sponsored or joint research programs at different universities.• Collaborated with co-workers to start a new Chemical EOR (Alkali – Surfactant – Polymer) program. Efforts included reconstruction of a laboratory, procurement and building of equipment, and the development of a chemical EOR formulation for an Alaska reservoir. Team accomplished a significant technical success by achieving high oil recovery and low chemical retention.• Designed and supervised the construction of high pressure high temperature live oil core flooding setups. Conducted core flow work for many subsurface technology projects.
