My main research interests are related to different aspects of construction materials, including microstructure and properties of cement based materials, durability design and service life modeling of reinforced concrete structures, novel and sustainable construction materials, recycling and waste utilization, self-healing of materials, construction chemicals, etc. The research aims to improve our understanding on the mostly used construction materials, i.e. cement based materials, and to create more synergy between two major aspects of construction materials, i.e. sustainability of durability.

Working for the department of Bridges, Tunnels and Marine structures. Main working areas include durability design, cement and concrete materials, site supervision and construction support, etc. The projects spread over many countries.

The main objective of the PhD project is to understand the porosity of cement based materials at the nanometric level using the techniques including Low Temperature Calorimetry, sorption analysis and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) analysis.The project is one in the Marie Curie Initial Training Network TRANSCEND which is a programme funded by the European Community (Framework Programme 7) aiming at understanding water transport in concrete structures. Experimental design, data analysis, frequent report to the network, participation at international conferences. 2. Teaching, coaching and supervising students’ projects.

1. Project leader for admixture system, BASF Construction Chemicals; responsible for the communication and management, planning, design and operation of the projects.2. Regular and frequent meetings with project team(Marketing/product manager, R&D team, sales and production), BASF global innovation center and project gatekeeper.3. Quarterly update the current status to the managing database, check project schedule, participate the actual costs calculation and forecast budget requirements.4. Prepare the detailed project action plan, make milestone criteria for different stages; periodically update the ongoing project progress and business case. 5. Based on the performance of current products and the trend of market, keep upgrading the products to better meet the market needs.6. Support the launch event for new products technically, guide the field testing of new products.7. Provide related training and technical service for cement additives and concrete admixtures to the sub regions in Asia Pacific.
