Started at USSteel in the Management Associate program, I trained with various managers learning about keeping employees safe, scheduling, organization, and time management. I gained experience in various fields throughout the Clairton coking facility. I started training at the coal storage and handling department, I trained at the river landing department where I learned how to maintain a fleet and tug boats along with dealing with government agencies such as the Coast Guard and the Army Corps. of Engineers. My training continued with the track and labor department where i assisted in planned repair outages around the plant and on the batteries, also learned about unplanned breakages and maintenance on the tracks. I later moved into a position with the Coal blending department where i learned about the intricacies of the metallurgical market and blending coal for coke-making. My responsibilities included generating and maintaining blends for the plants, supervising the quality of barges, trains and monthly deviations, assisting in the quality meetings with suppliers.
