About Minako Uchino
I am a Radiation Oncologist and Medical Education Specialist, former Chief Radiation Oncologist at the Kohnodai Hospital National Center for Global Health and Medicine (NCGM) in Chiba, Japan. I have been simultaneously pursuing a career in music, playing the carillon and organ. I am now based in Mechelen, Belgium, pursuing my passion for music full-time at Royal Carillon School "Jef Denyn" as the first Japanese Guild Carillonneur of the Guild of Carillonneur in North America. In medicine, I engage in the interprofessional medical education program between the pharmaceutical industry and medical students as a pharmacovigilance specialist at AbbVie Inc. Japan.The NCGM provides comprehensive regional cancer care and offers health and collaborative medical activities on a global scale. A crucial part of my role was providing extensive medical education across the board. From 2014 to 2017, I actively engaged in a research project to improve communication between general practitioners (GPs)/ family doctors and oncology specialists, funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).In a pharmaceutical industry-first initiative, I am furnishing medical education services to pharmaceutical companies, with the primary aim of improving awareness of inter-professional roles within healthcare, which extends to the collaborative educational program with Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Yamagata University.
