Profile bio

About Minda Borun

I am an innovative and experienced researcher, who combines expertise in quantitative and qualitative market and educational research methods and project evaluation. I design, analyze and report on studies to help clients communicate with their customers. Through published studies and staff training workshops I have built name recognition which has led to substantial foundation and federal grants and successful programs. My work focuses on understanding and improving learning experiences in out-of-school settings for people of all ages. As a founding member and three-term chair of the Committee on Audience Research and Evaluation of the American Alliance of Museums, I helped to establish visitor research as a central part of what museums do. Similarly, as a ten-year member of the board of The Visitor Studies Association, I was involved in founding this international organization and its annual conference. My publications on museum-based learning show that widespread misconceptions about science can be addressed through interactive exhibits and programs. They also emphasize that families are the learning unit in museums and that exhibits need to be designed for small groups. I have published five monographs and numerous articles on museum-based learning.Skills:Exhibit & Program EvaluationStaff TrainingProgram Design & ImplementationInstitutional PlanningWebsite EvaluationResearch on How People Learn
