Union President
CurrentEngages and briefs NVP on actions happening within the local. Attends Union President meetings for National level daily, weekly, and monthly. Presides over Executive board as executive officer for E-board, General Body and other meetings, presents yearly budget to the E-board and membership. Creates Executive board agenda, General Body Agenda monthly and briefs membership of upcoming impacts based on position. Creates yearly strategic plan, directs the mission and vision of Afge 2516 and assigns designees to tasker actions on behalf of the Union with WBAMC and DHA El Paso Marketplace. Creates check registry with Secretary/treasurer, reviews Agency Dues report with Sec/treasurer and removes members who have left the Agency. Trains the Executive Board officers on how to effectively run the organization and assesses issues each individually addresses based on their Union position description. Creates changes to the bylaws, forms and other systems used by the Executive Board as needed to properly run the Union as head executive officer. Creates new trainings for Union officers based on issues presented within each Agency being represented and assists chief steward in creation of new trainings for all union stewards. Supervises Union officers and is senior leader for all union stewards.Keeps membership apprised of the goals and objectives of the Federation; presides at all local meetings; and sign all documents pertaining to the office. The Union President ensures Union officers & stewards are properly trained in relation to: Conflict Resolution, Collective Bargaining, Litigation and Bargaining, including grievance arbitration, EEO Cases, whistleblower cases, Unfair Labor Practice under National Labor Relations Act, MSPB Cases, Title 38, Hybrid, and Title 5 employment cases, FLSA/Overtime cases, OPM Disability Requests and Appeals for FERS/CSRS, Workman’s compensation, workman’s compensation appeals, hearing and advanced workman’s.
