I am in my second term (6th year) on the Board of Education for Ohio's 6th largest school district, Olentangy Local Schools. I have served 4 of my 6 years in the Vice-President or President role. When I ran for election it was not with the intention of leading but yet I find myself in that position. I face new challenges everyday that take me out of my comfort zone. I must rise to those challenges as a leader and guide the best decisions for the community I serve. I continue my commitment to addressing the literacy issues in our state and our country. My approach to making change is learning the system where change must occur. I feel I have met that goal. My next step is to address the approach to teaching literacy within the schools of education. Literacy is a civil right, all students must read to learn.
