Inform and mobilize the Long Island Community to take action locally, nationally, and internationally to address community relations issues important to both the Jewish and non-Jewish Communities. Cultivate positive and meaningful inter-group relationships. Serve as a resource for information and advocacy about Israel and international affairs to the communities of Long Island. Maintain an on-going dialogue between the Jewish community and government officials at the local, state, and federal level. Collaborate with leaders of various ethnic, religious, and cultural groups on Long Island to plan programs that foster meaningful and enduring relationships.

Teach classes within the Social Work Department in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Classes include: Family Violence Across the Lifespan, Interdisciplinary Team Work Approach to Social Work, and Social Work Field Instruction. Prepare assignments and class work. Ensure that students have a complete understanding of course material.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with UJA’s major donors/supporters and foster stewardship. Produce numerous fundraising events including Aqua Run, one of UJA’s largest and most thriving events for Long Island. Organize educational receptions and programs for agency board members and UJA-Federation lay leaders. Spearhead government relations initiative by building and maintaining partnerships with federal, state, and local legislators. Regularly meet with members of congress, state senators, state assembly members, and county officials. Advocate for laws and funding that sustain the activities of UJA-Federation’s Long Island health, social-service, and community agencies. Educate and create awareness among legislators of the organization’s agency’s issues and causes.

Established programs and resources that assisted in saving and changing the lives of victims of domestic and family violence, elder abuse, child abuse, dating violence, sexual abuse, sexting, and cyber bullying. Presented programs to community and professional groups pertaining to domestic violence. Advocated for changes in legislation to benefit families and victims in abusive situations. Implemented annual fundraisers and various community education and outreach events. Secured funding through government grants and private foundation donations. Established community programs that benefited domestic violence victims. Served as industry expert and agency spokesperson for television, radio, and newspaper interviews. Supervised a staff of 8 as well as a team of interns and volunteers.
