Lead a team of four admission officers and one administrative support person in supporting and advancing Skidmore’s commitment to access. Managed delivery of Skidmore’s spring Discovery Tour, yielding 54% of those who attended, converting 44% who were undecided. Using methods transferred from Thinking Collaborative, model positive leadership, build capacity in each teammate to use skillsets to maximum impact, and to contribute ideas freely for the greater good of the programs. Develop, foster, and oversee partnerships with CBOs, expanding relationships with organizations. Advise College on impact of Supreme Court ruling on Affirmative Action on recruitment strategies. Serve on cross functional Committee on Intercultural and Global Understanding subcommittee, advising Cabinet committees on factors within the campus climate that may serve as obstacles to retention, student success, and wellbeing. Travel, read applications, select candidates by directives, interview, negotiate Slate, deliver information sessions, and represent the College at Case Studies, panels, and events.

Oversaw all aspects of the College Counseling program at Marin Academy, serving as expert for Head of School and Board of Trustees on shifts in the college admission landscape and its impact on curriculum, market position, social emotional culture, and overall wellbeing of the school. Managed the day-to-day operations of the College Counseling office, including calendar, communications, college representative visits, and meeting and retreat agendas. Reoriented college counseling program around MA’s five competencies in order to connect efforts to the overarching learning outcomes of the school; increase purposefulness and reflection. Expanded and improved community education series, providing more touch points and depth, adding topics like how to assess university quality and how to measure experiences connected to long-term student engagement. Improved quality, detail, and impact of existing college counseling curriculum, including weekly college seminar, essay workshop, and onboarding application procedures. Worked with Denise Pope and Challenge Success on wellness in the secondary school setting.

Integrated into existing structures a new student-centered professional college office that prioritizes individual support, wellbeing, empowerment, and education. Established program that focuses students and families on honest self-assessment, evidence-based research, reflection, and sense of identity and belonging to identify fitting educational matches. In consultation with Jay McTighe, developed a model of college counseling rooted in transferable school learning outcomes, framing the journey to college as an organic extension of the high school experience. Planned all school strategic communication and educational programming to promote informed, healthy discussions about student wellbeing, development, and post-secondary pathways. Educated administration, faculty, and trustees on counseling best practices, recommendation letter writing, student wellness, interpreting data, and student academic advising. Cultivated relationships with young SAS alumni worldwide in order to best understand how their lived experience impacts how best to counsel current student. Stayed current on trends in global university systems pursued by our students and in adolescent development through communication with university representatives, travel, and conferences, and support team in the same effort. Planned and deliver annual 11th grade college counseling retreat with colleagues from sister campus, including participation by admission officers and other specialists from multiple countries. Improved school messaging and consistency through redesign of profile and other publicationsSupported the professional growth of a team of three college counselors, and an administrative assistant, including hiring one new counselor through an international search.

Managed a team of three college counselors and one administrative assistant in the coordination of a comprehensive college counseling curriculum for a diverse day and boarding population.

Oversaw the annual admission process for wide ranging students (from 44 states & 40 counties, 45% of which each identify as American students of color, receive financial aid, and are non-boarders). Directed Lawrenceville’s Davis Scholars Program, advising a group of fully funded students from wide ranging countries on their social and academic lives on through their graduations from college, liaising with the Shelby Cullom Davis Foundation to supply data, stories and access to the kids as needed. Adapted the full college counseling curriculum to a learning management tool (Haiku) used to provide resources and to inform students and faculty of upcoming events, deadlines, and progress expectations. Collaborated to develop the Explore Lawrenceville program for Coordinators of Multicultural Recruitment, showcasing student of color population and creating an opportunity for professionals committed to access to higher education to discuss best practices. Presented on a range of admissions topics (Financial Aid and Scholarships, Considering Women’s Colleges, Multicultural Perspectives, Thinking Outside the Ivy League, and Arts Portfolios).
