The Clerk's Officer processes and maintains all current documents and materials (e.g., maintains the Municipal Code, files and tracks all ordinances, resolutions, agreements, contracts, and recorded City documents). The City Clerk administers the Oaths of Office; prepares agendas, agenda packets, and minutes for the City Council, New Albany Sewer Board and the Board of Public Works and Safety.The primary responsibility of the City Clerk's Office is to take minutes and keep the records of Common Council, New Albany Sewer Board, and the Board of Public Works & Safety. The office maintains all records and documents on an up-to-date basis and disseminates information as they receive requests. Other ongoing responsibilities include accepting public record act requests, and preparing City Council, New Albany Sewer Board, and Board of Public Works and Safety agenda packets.The City Clerk's Office processes payments, letters, and any other material or questions regarding parking tickets with the City of New Albany and runs the deferral program for any speeding tickets issued by a City Officer. The City Clerk's Office issues license and permits for accessible parking, residential parking, taxicab companies, taxi drivers, solicitors, vendors, demonstrations, direct sellers, road blocks, street/sidewalk closures, street cuts, sidewalk cuts and curb cuts. The City Clerk's Office accepts payments for all code enforcement violations and processes court hearing requests for non-compliance. The City Clerk and Deputy Clerk perform marriage ceremonies by appointment only.
