My dream began in the spring of 1988 when I completed the Disney College Program. I worked in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom and learned from the industry's best leaders during one of the most influential years of my life. To say that Mickey Mouse changed everything for me, well...just see for yourself! Immediately after the program, I went back to my college campus in Indiana, changed my major from education to corporate communication, all the while feeling that “calling” to go back to Disney after graduation. As you might imagine - life happened. I married my college sweetheart and we followed his career path as the primary breadwinner. We started out in a metropolitan area and I began a wonderful four-year career with Marriott. Hospitality became my industry of choice and I excitedly brought my Disney knowledge and experience with me, growing every step of the way.The years that followed brought us three amazing kids, the last of whom just graduated from college – hooray! I devoted myself to full-time parenthood, eventually pursuing opportunities that had opened up to me in higher education. Even though it's been a full, meaningful life and career, I put my ultimate dream on the backburner. It’s been more than 30 years.Fast forward to today. I've spent the last 20 years in higher ed, dedicated to bringing Disney leadership and customer experience principles to an industry not known for its service mentality! I count it a privilege to serve students, donors and families every day in the same warm, inspirational Disney way I was taught. What does the future hold for me? Only God (and maybe Mickey Mouse) knows, but I can honestly say that even after 30 years, my dream is as alive in my heart as ever. I believe that one day, I'll come back home to the company I love and create magic for a whole new generation.

Associate Director Of Engagement Operations, Institutional AdvancementOlivet Nazarene University 2021 - Aug 2024 -
Foundation Operations, Institutional AdvancementOlivet Nazarene University 2019 - 2021Bourbonnais, IlIn this position, 50% of my energy was used to turn what was a basic scholarship program into a first-class, friendly, professional, personalized experience for donors and students. 25% of my time went into Foundation Board events planning & execution, with the remaining 25% centered on Blackbaud software integration, transforming a manual scholarship process into a dynamically efficient electronic system. My experience with new software integration, my unique reputation for Disney-level quality & service, and my solid history of outstanding performance were why I was asked to transition out of Admissions into The Olivet Foundation. My love for taking something unremarkable and turning it into the gold standard, along with my constant quest to keep learning, growing, and expanding my influence, is why I agreed to take it! -
Admissions Operations, Institutional AdvancementOlivet Nazarene University 2016 - 2019Bourbonnais, IlI asked to transfer within Admissions to gain experience supervising the professionalism and productivity of 25+ student staff, converting inexperienced workers into integral office staff responsible for mission-critical operations - all during a major software upgrade. Hiring, training, promoting, and developing our student staff was my greatest joy and challenge! Due to my transfer program expertise, I assumed ownership of all transfer student admitting. Creating a work culture of excellence and fun that was well-known and sought-after by student workers campus-wide was my most rewarding professional achievement in this position. -
Admissions Recruiter/Advisor, Institutional AdvancementOlivet Nazarene University 2011 - 2016This was my first role at Olivet. There were no positions open in HR when I arrived. Through Admissions, however, I discovered that advising transfers was a way for me to match the gifts & talents of others with opportunities for growth & development through academic programs, rather than through employment opportunities. Being able to expertly advise for 121 campus majors kept me on my toes and closely connected to deans, department chairs, and faculty. Advising fit like a glove and to this day, I cherish the connections I made with students and families. Watching my students successfully transition to a new campus, a new academic program, and a new learning community made every day worth it. -
Park Greeter - Disney'S Hollywood StudiosWalt Disney World Oct 2021 - Jan 2022Orlando, Florida, United StatesI lived my dream as a Disney Cast Member for 90-days, working full-time remote with Olivet and part-time at DHS on the weekends. This was not sustainable, but it gave me a glimpse of what could be! I made sure my employment status is "eligible for rehire", because - who knows what the future holds! -
Human Resources Specialist/Adjunct FacultyMount Vernon Nazarene University 2008 - 2010An opportunity became available in my preferred area. I learned how to onboard new employees, administer paid leave, train faculty & staff, execute an awards program, acquire an entire program - student employment - from another department, and perform backup payroll duties.I taught an upper-division business course - Human Resource Management - as adjunct faculty, which was a fun, new challenge. The need for complete confidentiality was required and I learned a new aspect of higher education - the business perspective. -
Enrollment Management AssistantMount Vernon Nazarene University 2006 - 2008I transitioned to a full-time role in Enrollment Management that provided comprehensive benefits, including tuition remission. During this time, I completed a Master of Science in Management degree, which was a personal highlight in my journey at Mount Vernon. I continued to familiarize myself with best practices in office management, scheduling, meeting management, and Microsoft Office software. -
Mission And Ministry AssistantMount Vernon Nazarene University 2002 - 2006I joined the MVNU staff as a part-time office professional after eight years as a full-time parent. In this position, I tracked payments and documentation for all student mission trips, both domestic and internationally. Leading work teams to New York City and Costa Rica were life-giving opportunities to grow in leadership, organization, and compassion. -
Administrative AssistantMarriott Hotels 1989 - 1994Marriott Hotel, Fort Wayne, IndianaResidence Inn by Marriott, Oklahoma City - WestSales Secretary was my first job after college graduation. I fell in love with an industry that allowed me to work with all types of people. After my Disney internship experience, hospitality was a natural fit for me.Relocation to Oklahoma City allowed me to continue my work with Marriott, first as an Administrative Assistant to the South Central Regional Manager and then "on the front lines" at the hotel level for the Director of Sales at Residence Inn. -
Attractions HostDisney Parks & Resorts Jan 1988 - May 1988This experience in the Disney College Program started it all! I discovered how excellence, gold-star service, and high standards can be used to transform any industry known to mankind.
