Advise business units regarding legal issues relating to risk assessment, coverage analysis, and general corporate matters. Provide legal counsel to senior leadership team regarding attainment of organizational objectives, risks presented by lines of business and jurisdictions, and resolution of business problems. Serve as cross-functional advisor to underwriting, claims, reinsurance, and marketing teams for purposes of product and program development. Manage litigation of errors & omissions claims in Central Region. Retain and direct outside counsel. Negotiate and prepare business agreements including agency agreements, reinsurance contracts, binding authority agreements, and consulting contracts. Communicate with agents, brokers, customers/insureds/members, and co-workers to discuss exposures, claims and coverage. Assist with coverage issues and claim management for public entity self-insurance pool.

Litigation partner with nationwide federal and state practice in complex legal actions, coverage analysis and risk assessment. Experience in working directly with clients and supervising regional and local counsel. Problem solving and advice to clients in risk management and best practices. Contractual analysis and negotiation involving liability releases, business transactions, risk transfer, employment, dispute resolution and other disputes. Specialization has developed from: o Drafting and negotiating business agreements. o Preparing and updating contract templates to reflect changes in business needs and legal environment. o Auditing contracts and contract management process to implement procedures to improve coordination, monitoring and compliance. o Handling disputes arising from contractual relationship including negotiations, alternative dispute resolution and litigation. o Interpreting existing and new laws and regulations to provide guidance to the business. o Assessing legal risk and providing on-going guidance to the business. o Assessing company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements. o Advising on security and privacy issues including data security and data issues. o Managing outside counsel on matters, as necessary to accomplish legal and compliance objectives.Business practice for major national and international corporations, acting as “out-sourced in-house” counsel for clients on a variety of transactional, litigation and general business needs. Risk Assessment and cost control evaluation for national and international companies. Litigation file audits, education and recommendations to clients for risk avoidance and cost containment regarding entire aspects of business, as well as individual issues.
