  • Rieke
    Assembly Manager
    Rieke Sep 2003 - Dec 2004
    Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China
I am assembly manager there. Rieke is an American company for plastic dispensing pumps which applied in medical, food and consumer industry. The company is just registered when I join, before that they have subcontractor in Huizhou and Shanghai. The owner prefer to setup his own company and move all production into his own plant. Hence at the beginning 4 months, I travel frequently between Huizhou, Shanghai and Hangzhou to monitor production in subcontractors, preparing transfer plan and leading production transfer include molds, assembly tooling, raw materials, inventories, etc. After hard negotiation, we move production from both subcontractors and set it up in Hangzhou facility within 3 months, give 1st delivery after one month. I work with HR to hire operators, technicians and supervisors. When transfer complete and production startup, we work with British and American colleagues in new projects. Oversea product engineers design new products then send drawings to China for tooling fabrication and process setup. I am in charge of assembly tooling design, fabrication, process layout build up, pilot run and mass production. There are 2 major groups in the factory: injection molding and assembly. I focuse on assembly production, engineering and tooling. The parallel departments are: molding, quality, material, HR and finance, reported to plant manager. I manage over 300 operators, 10 line leaders, 4 shift supervisors and 1 process engineer. My mainly role changed a little from engineering to production which I was less practiced in previous company, I am glad to face new challenge and get new skills. I got very good practice to manage people and business over there.
  • Fci
    Engineering Manager
    Fci Mar 1996 - Sep 2003
    Nantong, Jiangsu, China
This is important experience in my career life, because I acquired ability of English, computer, assembly, automation, and molding over here. I am hired as process engineer in charge of tooling maintenance, process improvement and production control. We transfer operations from overseas and learn for overseas colleagues. We run products like Pcmcia, SMT connectors, USB, Metral (2mm header), R-Din, Modular-Jack, Minicon.etc.About 1 year later, we start molding operation. I am trained in Singapore to learn molding operation and maintenance, and then transfer to Nantong. I set it up successfully and keep it running smoothly. Our molding operations include insert molding and plain molding which is pure plastic components. Then I am promoted as senior process engineer start to work on automatic assembly machine transferring from abroad, and molding start-up, procure machines and moulds, trial run and troubleshooting.I also do design job on assembly fixtures and continuous stamping dies.Other than connector, we run cable assembly of USB, SCSI, IEEE, RF, mobile charger…etc; which are mostly manual lines with insert molding operations. Early 2001, I am promoted to engineering supervisor to aim at product development and to be a project leader for product transfer, process design, set up, trial run, internal and customer qualification, moulds and machines maintenance, improvement, process sheet setup, etc. Start from end 2001, we work on a new product for telecom base station power distribution system named Busbar. We build up one series production equipment for Nokia. In 2002, we built up manufacturing capability for Motorola Busbar system.Start from early 2003, I focus on products transfer from Taiwan and America. I am the overall transfer project leader to work on whole process of product transfer: documentation, training, logistics, quality, production, etc. I need to master all sub-projects, individual product transfer, and communicate with Taiwan closely.
  • Nantong Radio Factory
    Mold Maker
Nantong Radio Factory Aug 1993 - Oct 1995
    Nantong
Work as a mould designer and maker. During this period, I am well practiced with parts’ machining and molding. I designed radio back cover mold, released the drawings for fabrication, then assembled and debugged it by myself. In order to finish it successfully, I have to understand machining like milling, grinding, lathing, and wire cut, EDM, CNC, etc. This is the best opportunity to practise the theory I got from university.During that period, I also got chance to temporarily work on computer application in government for several months to obtain my computer skill.
