· Set up a torsional vibration platform on MTS machine with synchronized acquisition from rotary motion sensor, high-speed camera and infrared camera.· Quantify the surface morphology and identify the internal heat source of NiTi wire during martensitic phase transition in pure torsion by digital image correlation and infrared thermography.· Identify the dominant heat transfer method and determine the characteristic heat convection time between NiTi wire and the ambient in electric resistance heating.· Reveal the simultaneous jump phenomena of thermomechanical responses on FRC and ARC in the frequency and amplitude domains for the nonlinear vibration system with NiTi wire.· Investigate the effects of mechanical excitation (amplitude and frequency) and external disturbance (magnitude and direction) on triggering the jump phenomena in the time domain.· Establish an effective Duffing oscillation model and perform a lumped heat transfer analysis to quantify the thermomechanical responses of the nonlinear vibration system with NiTi wire.· Manipulate the undesired jump phenomena of thermomechanical responses for the nonlinear vibration system with nanocrystalline NiTi through grain refinement.
