Currently, I work on the fundamental chemistry and physics of semiconductor nanocrystals. Specifically, we're looking at: -How the exact structure of individual nanocrystals, resolved by high-resolution electron microscopy, dictates the optical behaviour of the same nanocrystals-Understanding how self-assembled arrays of nanocrystals transport energy throughout their array, as a function of packing density, coupling, surface coverage, and other key parameters-Inducing chirality in the electronic/optical properties by exposing them to chiral ligands-Graphene Liqud Cell (GLC) in transmission electron microscopies (TEM) to understand the nucleation and growth kinetics of these particles

My work focused on the optical properties and photophysics of semiconductor nanocrystals, or in plain English: Small chunks of bright rocks. These materials were and are being heavily studied for their use in solar energy conversion, lighting, and imaging applications. Particularly, I spent time on: -Building a microscope capable of imaging single particles-Developed an all-optical technique to modify the fluorescence emission behaviour of CdSe nanocrystals-Synthesized and assembled a system of nanocrystals and "energy accepting" organic molecules to study how to quickly extract light-induced excitations from these materials. -Characterized the photophysics of PbS nanocrystals in a new size-regime that was previously difficult to access -Measured the spectral response of nanoplasmonic structures to understand how they enhance and concentrate an incident electric field

At Yo-ren, my team and I were brought on to build out the entire data infrastructure when the company had just finished their seed round.-Migrated the company from Excel worksheet-based data storage to a SQL DB and trained analysts to write queries.-Subsequently performance-tuned queries to speed up data retrieval 3x-Taught analysts to load and analyze data in Python and R to gain insights into trends-Trained and implemented a random forest model to target offers to customers, resulting in a 10% increase in sales in 3 item categories
